Money money money!

Our first invoice has arrived Ahhhhhhhhhhh! This is our slab invoice and we will soon get the frame invoice soon after this one. My bank has been a little slow to get my builders pack out so I am anxious to get it all sorted so as to not hold up the first payment. I have spoken to the PD money bags lady, she is lovely and told me not to worry it will all be fine. I have faxed through the paperwork so from now on we can authorise payments verbally.

Tiles

We have organised and paid a deposit for out tiles and are having them held at the stores until required. As mentioned before we were not too impressed with the floor tile selection at National Tiles so we are doing all the floor tiling ourselves with exception to the shower bases that are required for certificate of occupancy.

We have chosen a Sandstone look porcelain tile called "Fusion Cream" in a 300x600 imported by Pingitore Tiles in East Keilor (See plugs for the link with more details). We are tiling the whole house including Alfresco with this tile. The only rooms we are going to carpet are the bedrooms and home theatre. We will be tiling the portico and verandah outside the master bedroom in a sealed slate, also from Pingitore Tiles.

We have chosen the Metalic Rust (MAXFL048) from National Tiles to tile our spa with. So we have bought and held a few meters of these at (National Tiles Sunshine) as we are installing our own spa after handover.

When I get a chance I will post some photos up of our entire colour selection.

The Roof is up!

Wow these Bob's don't muck around, we already have a roof up! I can't believe they have already got most of the roof trusses completed. I think I might rename these guys "speedy Bob's"

It is getting more exciting every night. Martin can't wait to get home so we can drive out together and check out what they have done. It is becoming a regular family bonding road trip with Daniel singing songs while Oscar babbles along with him. Daniel screamed excitedly when he saw the house tonight, he yelled out "Wow look Mummy Daddy, look what da Bob's did, they put a roof on our house." It's great taking the boys out for the drive, we get them ready for bed, give Oscar his milk when we get there and by the time we get back home they are both asleep!

We took a few shots from different angles so enjoy the photos everyone.

It's a "Frame" job!

I promise I will stop with the bad frame title jokes.

The frame is now mostly completed the Bobs put up the garage and alfresco frame. They were taking delivery of the roof trusses when I got there today. Daniel was really excited to see the big truck with the crane. I guess they will start putting the roof up tomorrow. The conditions today made the job pretty hairy at times as it was not only hot but blowing a gale. Poor hot Bob's.

Martin could not wait until tomorrow to see the progress so we took another drive out again tonight. The Bob's already moved the incorrect garage door, wow these guys work fast, they were only informed about it at midday today. Good on'ya Bob.

"Framed" again!

I went out on my own tonight and more of the frame is up. The bottom frame of the house is almost completed, just the garage and a bit of the Alfresco to be done and then the roof trusses will go up. We had a bit of a mix up with the drawings given to the Bob's on site, they did not get the last variation moving the internal garage door back to the original position. I spoke to site super and Probie and it is all under control.

We have been "Framed".

Yep the frame has been started.
One third of the frame is up and it is great to make out the rooms and see how big the rooms will be. These poor Bob's are working in such heat, I hope it cools down a bit for them.

A fence and whole heap of timber.

The temporary fencing has been put up surrounding the construction site and the timber for the frame has been delivered. So I guess tomorrow the frame is on it's way up!

Site Clean - The mountains of dirt are gone!!!!

We took Mum and Dad out to inspect the slab today. Having built umpteen houses and having a construction background it was great to get the thumbs up from Dad. Dad also joked about us needing a maid because of how big the house is going to be.

Daniel was thrilled that Oscar's was asleep in the car so he could ride Oscar's tricycle up and down on the slab, Daniel had his own private slab party. We also took Mum and Dad to see the area in which we are building and they were surprised at how developed the area was and how big it was, Dads comment was "it's like a whole other city".

We noticed when we got there that all the mountains of dirt had disappeared and the land around the house was leveled, poof and it's all gone! The crossover protection is also now in place. They must have done it on Saturday. Thank you clean up Bobs.

Now that the site is cleared the next step begins, the Frame together with the windows will go up and should be completed by the end of the week.

Slab Party Time!!

Went out again tonight so that Martin could see the slab finished. We are both excited to see the floor plans set out in concrete. It is great to be able to make out each room and see how much land we have left on the block. The backyard is bigger that we thought it was going to be so we are pleasantly surprised but also happy that it's not too big, less work = more family time!

We will probably take the boys out to ride their scooters on the slab sometime over the weekend and have a picnic on it. Slab Party time!

The photo above is the completed job. Well done Bobs!

Concrete and coins!

They poured the slab today Yaaaaaaaaaay,

Daniel was thrilled to see the big concrete truck and the concrete pump truck (with the elephant's nose) pumping out the concrete into the foundations, most of all he was glad to see there were seven Bobs working today. I took him out briefly to throw his coin into the concrete where his bedroom will be, Oscar's also threw his coin and I threw gold coin for Martin and I. It is an old family tradition to throw coins into the slab as it's getting laid to bring good luck to the household.

The crossover protection is still not in place must ring Probie!

If you read this concrete Bob's, thank you for all your hard work!

Waffle Pods, Steel and 5 Bobs

Another visit to the "land of block" and Daniel was thrilled to see five "Bobs" (as in Bob the builder) hard at work.

They were still working so don't be alarmed if some of the steel looks like it is on a slope, they had not put all the chairs in to hold it up as yet.

The deepened edge beam which surrounds the perimeter of the house has lots of steel and is very deep in areas, there will be a heck of a lot of concrete to fill these craters.

The concrete will be laid tomorrow and we are going out to see it all happen, Daniel can not wait to see the BIG BIG BIG truck.

The crossover protection is still sitting in a pile!

Enjoy the pics!

We have formwork and a dunny!

We went out to the "Land of Block" again to see where things are at. Delivered on site are..........
  • A porta loo,
  • A rubbish cage
  • A heck of a lot of steel
  • The crossover protection
Also delivered and already laid is the outer barrier of the formwork. Wow!!! They have also started laying some of the steel in the trenches around the perimeter of the house for the deepened edge beam. The engineer revised the foundation plans to include the deepened edge beam in lieu of piering to the entire house and garage.

Great to see the crossover protection there even if it isn't on the crossover yet! It can't be too far away now. Looks like the trucks are also using our neighbours crossover. You guys smash it you pay for it!

See I told you there would be more pictures!!!
